“The birria consomé tastes like a Sunday at my tía’s.”

Tacos cooked over red-oak coals, salsas ground in the molcajete, and a family recipe book older than the building.
It started with a borrowed comal and a folding table on a Saturday corner. Abuela Lupe pressed tortillas, her son Rafa worked the coals, and the line grew longer every weekend.
Today the Ortega family still lights the red-oak fire at 7 every morning. Nothing goes on the menu unless it tastes the way it did back home in Jalisco — and nothing leaves the kitchen without a second opinion from Lupe.
The trompo spins all afternoon, pineapple on top, red-oak coals underneath. Bring the whole crew — dine in or pickup.
